..so many reasons to show your smile!
|
Even beautiful teeth are not always straight.
They are not always pearly white.
They sometimes have fillings.
One thing that nice teeth have in common is that they are HEALTHY!
If the teeth and gums are in a state of good health, all other defects are easily and usually quite affordably corrected.
Crooked teeth can be straightened with orthodontics (braces) or sometimes, bonding. Discolored teeth can be bleached, or bonded. Deformed teeth can be repaired inexpensively with tooth colored fillings or (more expensively) with crowns or veneers. Missing teeth can be replaced with removable partial dentures, bridges or implants.
In other words, once the teeth are in a state of health, all their deficiencies can be overcome by the purchase of dental services which are quite affordable by anyone. When the teeth and gums are in a state of good health, any money spent replacing missing teeth or placing bonded veneers on discolored or malformed teeth is money well spent.
As compared to other parts of the body, we pay the least amount of attention to our teeth till we get alarming signals. After a visit to the Dentist which is always long overdue in any case, we promise ourselves to be more particular
in future but once we get busy in our daily activities we forget about it all over again.
Due to this careless attitude, we ruin a few teeth.
But thanks to our Kerala dental surgeons and technology, they have devised ways to cure and fix our teeth and restore our smiles. Dental implants are a blessing in disguise where missing tooth/teeth are replaced so perfectly that no one can ever make out the difference. Implants help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.
Dental Implants are the most rapidly growing field in dentistry today. Similar to a hip replacement, dental implants are made from surgical grade titanium. This dental implant system is thought by many to be the finest in the world.
The implants are tiny titanium posts, which are inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. They are then surgically placed into the jaw bone. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for the artificial teeth. Then small posts are attached to the implant, which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
In most cases, the placement of dental implants involves one surgical procedure. First, implants are placed within your jawbone.
For 6-12 weeks following surgery, the implants bond with the jawbone. The entire procedure usually takes two to six months.
Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
In Kerala, India, we can boast highly skilled dental surgeons at par with the international standards. Which is why a lot of people from the U.K., Europe, U.S.A. and Canada are preferring to visit India for their dental treatments as they save enormously on cost, get the same quality of treatment and can enjoy a holiday with their families or accompanying person.
Kerala with it combination of super specialty hospitals and luxurious hotels, has been touted as an ideal medical tourism destination where ailing foreigners can combine a relaxing holiday with cheap but effective medical treatment.
But the state is seeing a new trend: hitching onto the medico-leisure bandwagon are dentists who are offering their services at a fraction of the price their foreign clients would expect to pay at home.
This means that apart from having such a smart smile that everybody will appreciate, you're having your magnificent Kerala holiday for almost free!
Not bad, uh?
Types of Dental Tourism
ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontics is the specialty which deals with correction of all dental and dento-facial discrepancies including teeth
and jaws protruding out, teeth out of alignment ( crooked ), inter-dental spaces, disproportionate jaws, in the young or in grown-ups, for results with pleasing esthetics and proper function.
The Orthodontic facilities are comprehensive and advanced, with use of the highest quality material and techniques. The TMJ (jaw joint) treatment and care receives utmost attention. Orthodontics often can produce dramatic results and beautiful smiles in the growing child.
DENTAL IMPLANTOLOGY
Dental implants are the only artificial true replacement for lost natural teeth. Titanium implants are screwed or tapped into the bone with Bone Grafts if indicated, and prosthetic re-construction allows for replacement of lost teeth in esthetics and in function. The long term durability of modern implants is excellent, but favorable and detrimental factors require careful consideration. Good Healthy bone and tissues, good occlusion, and good hygiene are important. Systemic diseases, poor hygiene, smoking, poor bone quality and bruxism are unfavorable.
RESTORATIONS / ENDODONTICS
Decay, Damage and Defects in teeth require restorations with ceramics, composite materials, precious metals or silver amalgams and together serve to produce and enhance Beautiful Smiles.
Teeth Whitening and Laminates are also wonderful choices available for your winning smiles. Irreversible damage to tooth tissue is treatable by Endodontics. The use of Torque-control motorized mechanics has expanded the horizons with remarkable success.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
Prevention through Pediatric dental health care is the most invaluable work we remain dedicated to, and is at the core of our educational and community dental practice.
PERIODONTICS
Gum care and treatment remain among the most useful and challenging science of modern dentistry for maintaining life-long healthy teeth. Contemporary Oral Prophylaxis methods with Ultrasonics and Prophyflex are effectively used in tandem with Focus on Oral Hygiene and Care.
PROSTHODONTICS
Lost, damaged or defective natural teeth require prosthetic replacement and reconstruction with high quality Ceramics and Precious metals, and these together combined with the highest Technical skills enable us to deliver unmatched results. Implant Prosthesis delivery requires the highest Clinical and Laboratory expertise, for which the clinic is truly equipped.
Complete Denture Prostheses, Cast Partial and Flexible Prostheses and and Full mouth rehabilitation are undertaken when the situations demand. The Clinics maintains an inventory for fabrication of the full range of Occlusal Splints and Mouth-guards.
ORAL SURGERY
Surgical extractions, minor and major Oral Surgery are in the domain of our facilities, with associate hospital facilities and Leading Consultants in the fields of General Medicine and Cardiology, Pathology, Anesthetics, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, etc. providing the essential medical support.
Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment necessary to maintain a healthy mouth and to keep your teeth. The two major causes of tooth loss are decay and gum disease. The better we prevent or deal with these two problems, the more chance people have of keeping their teeth for life.
The joint efforts of the dentist, the hygienist and the patient, can help to prevent the need for treatment, and so avoid the traditional pattern of fillings and extractions.
A course of treatment may be recommended to get your mouth into good condition, and a maintenance plan will be worked out to help you keep it that way.
Preventive Procedures
Regular hygiene appointments - allow the doctor and hygienist to monitor your oral health and to clean under your gum line where the toothbrush cannot reach.
They include thorough examination & cleaning (sanding & scaling); full-mouth and periodontal (gum) exam; oral cancer screening; periodic X-Rays to detect decay, bone loss or tumors; and Individual care consultations.
In order to preserve beautiful and healthy teeth are advisable two regular dental hygiene appointments a year.
Fluoride Treatment - This treatment hardens the enamel on teeth to make it more difficult for cavities to start.
Cavity Detecting Laser - It is much more accurate than the sharp probe used in the past, and is totally painless. It allows us to find cavities undetectable with the probe.
Night Guard Therapy - Night guards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the dentition from grinding and clenching. It is a conservative, reversible treatment modality that is usually well tolerated by patients and is very successful.
Sanding - Removing tartar performed by using a mixture of sand and water under high pressure.
Scaling - Removing supragingival calculus with an ultrasound device.
Sealants - These plastic coatings are applied to molars and premolars to seal out decay-producing plaque. They are painlessly applied and last many years before renewing. Sealants serve in a preventive capacity to reduce the risk of cavities and more costly fillings. They can be applied on baby or adult teeth.
X-rays - These help the doctor detect cavities that cannot be seen by the eye (i.e., between teeth). Our use of digital X-rays reduces radiation up to 90%.
Tooth Replacement
Prosthetic dentistry is concerned with missing teeth dentition. This field is of vital importance due to aesthetic reasons as well as protection against mouth function defects, such as chewing or speech. Our surgeries provide complex service of prosthetic restoration, both permanent and removable.
Prosthetic procedures:
. Prosthetic Crown - Typically porcelain crowns are placed when a significant amount of tooth structure is lost and when placing a filling would jeopardize the integrity of the tooth or compromise the aethetics or strength. Generally, they cover the top of the tooth and go down the side of the tooth, holding it together to prevent further damage to the teeth. Traditional crowns have gold inside of them with porcelain bonded to the outside for aethetics. These are sturdy and durable and hold up well to the 200 pounds of pressure put on them during chewing function. The newer porcelain crowns are called 'second-generation' materials because they are stronger and more durable than the original porcelain type materials that were used thirty years ago. These new materials have more flex, better wear, more translucency to match the natural color of your teeth and they bond better to either the tooth or the metal underneath the porcelain on the porcelain/metal crowns. fixed prosthetic restoration placed on both vital and dead teeth after their prior grinding.
. Dental Bridge – it is placed when there are one or more teeth missing and the objective is to stabilize the bite, prevent the adjacent teeth from tilting, and the opposing teeth from dropping down into the space that has been lost. When there is no adjacent tooth on one side, we may do a cantilever bridge, which is supported by only one tooth. (It can have two teeth on one side and then extend out on the other by itself).
. Dental Implant - is typically a titanium screw that is placed into the jaw bone in the area that a tooth is lost. It is left in the bone for a period of approximately 4-6 months to let it 'fuse' with the adjacent bone. A t this point, a metal top is placed on the screw post to create a hole in the gum for the crown to emerge from. After that has been in the tissue for a short while, then a crown can be placed over that post. It is either cemented or screwed in, depending upon the type of implant system.
Advantages of implants are that they don't involve the adjacent teeth and therefore are more conservative in that respect. In addition, should something happen to the implant (porcelain chip, adjacent teeth turn darker over time) the crown can usually be easily removed and sent back to the lab for a touch-up to correct anything.
. Dentures – generally refers to the replacement of an entire arch of teeth with an appliance with either plastic or porcelain teeth on it. Replacing teeth is easier than ever before with the multitude of denture alternatives available to patients. Dentures are now more comfortable and affordable than ever before. With regards to material, we distinguish the following types of dentures: metal, acrylic, porcelain, metal-acrylic, metal-porcelain. If there are a few teeth left, then it is referred to as a Partial denture. . Removable dentures - placed on foundation and removed by the patient (frame denture, functionally unstable denture, overdenture)
. Fixed dentures - permanently connected to pillar teeth.
Tooth Repair Restorative dentistry procedures can very easily be used to treat almost all types of dental problems, like caries and dental pulp illnesses. Whether teeth are damaged, diseased, or decayed, a method exists to return the teeth to a normal appearance and function. These techniques range from the simple to the very complex, but they are all designed to protect, repair, or replace your teeth.
Modern equipment and techniques (such as microscopes, electronic locator of root apex, digital x-radiography) enable the painless treatment of carious defects, while today's materials provide permanent and very aesthetic composite fillings.
Restorative procedures. There are various restorative dentistry procedures which are successfully done at Dental Clinics. The treatment method and option depends on the kind of the dental problem an individual is suffering from. These are some of the procedures that we undertake for our patients are mentioned below:
Porcelain veneers - Veneers are thin wafer like substance which can be used for teeth restoration. Veneers can effectively correct broken, damaged, crooked, misaligned and misshapen teeth. Teeth's whitening is also possible with the use of porcelain veneers. We use very thin layers on our patient's teeth so that they do not feel their teeth are bulky at all.
Dental Crowns - when a tooth is severely damaged or decayed, dental crowns act as a protective cover, strengthening the tooth and reinforcing the jaw. It is a restoration that covers a tooth in order to strengthen the tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown may be placed to support a large filling when there is little remaining tooth structure or attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing.
Veneers - usually customized from porcelain, they are thin and semi-translucent facings bonded to the fronts of teeth. Veneers are durable, stain resistant and natural looking. They conceal broken, chipped, discolored, crooked and misshapen teeth.
Bonding - This is a process in which tooth-colored composite resin is applied to tooth surfaces, sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished to match surrounding teeth. Bonding can close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth and disguise discolored teeth.
Bridge - A fixed bridge, usually made of porcelain and gold, is used to replace missing teeth. A bridge helps to create a normal bite, prevent the drifting and tilt of adjacent teeth, inhibit decay in abnormal areas, and slow the onset of periodontal disease.
Root canal (Endodontic) treatment - it involves basically removal of infected or dead pulp from the root cavity or canal, disinfection and their precise filling with suitable material. Owing to the aforementioned types of anaesthesia, endodontic treatment is practically painless. The effect of the process is a healthy tooth, which is a kind of "vital implant" that can serve the patient for many years.
Inlay/Onlay - two methods of restoring normal tooth structure after decay or other damage. Inlays and onlays are known as indirect fillings because unlike a standard filling that is done in a dentist's office, both are made in a laboratory and cemented or bonded to the surface of the tooth during a second visit to the dentist. And unlike standard fillings, inlays and onlays do not weaken the tooth structure, but actually strengthens it.
White/Composite Fillings - Made of tooth-colored material rather than silver and mercury, composite fillings restore the teeth's natural beauty. White silver fillings weaken teeth, tooth-colored fillings strengthen and support tooth structure. Composite fillings can be matched to your natural tooth color and are virtually indistinguishable from non-restored teeth.
Teeth Whitening - The tooth whitening process offers those with stained, discolored, or dull teeth a whiter and brighter smile. Bleaching significantly reduces external surface stains caused by food, drink or to much fluoride. It is a painless and affordable process.
At our selected Dental Clinics we use advanced state of the art equipments to do the different procedures. After conducting a thorough examination of the mouth we determine the best treatment options for a particular condition.
Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Dentistry
One of the first things people notice about you is your smile. A beautiful smile can brighten your life - professionally and socially. Aesthetic dentistry is a specific approach which involves not only practical reconstruction of the damaged tissues, but also diagnosing the causes of such damages as well as recognising the needs and suitable alternative methods of treatment. Aesthetic dentistry aims at joining different qualities such as function and beauty with individual ideas and needs of the patient. Teeth that are discolored, chipped, crooked, or misaligned can be beautifully corrected.

There are many ways we, at our Dental Clinics, can give you a youthful, attractive, natural looking smile:
- Whitening
- Bonding
- Jawbone aesthetic surgery
- Crown inlays
- Crowns
- Porcelain veneers and implants
Bleaching (Whitening) BriteSmile® - is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile. Many systems are available from the widely used home bleaching to in-office "power bleaching" with bright lights or lasers.
In our Dental Clinics we offer you the BriteSmile® Teeth Whitening System, which is very effective and provide wonderful results. In just over an hour, you can leave the practice with a natural-looking, whiter, brighter smile. How it works? The patient prepares their teeth by brushing with pre-whitening toothpaste. Then the BriteSmile whitening gel is applied to the teeth and the gentle BriteSmile light is shone on the teeth to activate the gel, while the patient relaxes in the chair. He is checked frequently and the gel is reapplied every 20 minutes during the one-hour treatment.
In clinical studies, BriteSmile has been able to achieve 8+ shades whiter, on average.
Note about Home Bleaching: side effects of home bleaching include transient temperature sensitivity and occasional exacerbation of inherent variations in enamel color, both of which improve once bleaching is stopped. Fillings and crowns do not change color with any type of bleaching and may need to be replaced afterwards. Bleaching has shown to be very stable.

If your teeth are very nice but you desire to improve your beauty even more, you can decorate your teeth with a jewel. Dental jewel is a special decoration, for example diamond or another stone, which can be attached to your teeth without consequences.
It is necessary to consider your expectations and realize that the dental jewel will be a new, significant part of your look. Be prepared that people can stare at you, most of them will appreciate the beauty of your decorated smile, but some of them can consider it too extravagant.
The dental jewel is attached to the tooth with a substance, which does not damage the enamel, it is therefore possible to remove it or change it without consequences.
During the consultation with the doctor on our Dental Clinics, you will choose the jewel and the tooth, to which the jewel should be attached. Our doctor will check the condition of your tooth, if it is too damaged, he can recommend to attach the jewel to another tooth.
The application procedure:
The application of dental jewel is completely painless and does not require any anesthesia.
After a perfect mouth hygiene, the jewel is stuck on the tooth with an adhesive substance, similar to the substance used to fix the retainer. This process does not damage the enamel, which is a big advantage.
After the application you will probably need few hours to get used to the small jewel in the mouth. The doctor provides you with all instructions concerning the care of dental jewels. Most important is perfect mouth hygiene.
The dental jewel can last a relatively long time, it is however limited by the stress put on the decorated tooth and dental care. If the jewel gets loose unexpectedly, it is possible to reattach it without consequences.
Periodontal Therapy (Gum Treatment)
Sore, bleeding gums indicate the beginnings of Periodontal Disease. If left untreated, discomfort, bad breath, and eventual tooth loss will result.
At our Dental Clinics we think that periodontal health should be achieved in the least invasive and most cost-effective manner. This is often accomplished through non-surgical periodontal treatment, including scaling and root planing (a careful cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and tartar from deep periodontal pockets and to smooth the tooth root to remove bacterial toxins), followed by adjunctive therapy such as local delivery antimicrobials and host modulation, as needed on a case-by-case basis.
Non-surgical therapy does have its limitations, however. A surgery may be indicated to restore periodontal anatomy damaged by periodontal diseases and to facilitate oral hygiene practices, when the tissue around your teeth is unhealthy and cannot be repaired with non-surgical treatment.
We perform various treatments to improve bone and paradontium condition:
Curettage
Gingivectomy, lobe treatments
Guided tissue regeneration (GTR)
Pocket Reduction Procedures
Crown Lengthening
Soft Tissue Grafts
…
All these treatments aim is to cleaning from bacteria, root and gingivitis pocket amplification, gum and bone correction and reconstruction of lost bone and paradontium soft tissue.
In addition to this procedures, we can also perform cosmetic procedures to enhance your smile. Oftentimes, patients who pursue cosmetic procedures notice improved function as well.
Doctors at our Dental Clinics are skilled at treating various stages of gum disease to return your mouth to a healthy state.
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all the teeth.
Orthodontic treatment is usually carried out in children, but adults can benefit from it too.
Orthodontic treatment can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons- improving the general appearance of patients' teeth and face for cosmetic reasons - but treatment is often prescribed for practical reasons, providing the patient with a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
Orthodontics treatments & procedures:
• You may not have enough room for all your permanent teeth and so it may be necessary to take out some permanent teeth to make space. Sometimes space can be created using other forms of treatment.
• Simple treatment may be carried out with a Removable brace (a plate that can be taken out to be cleaned). It has delicate wires and springs attached, which move the teeth using gentle pressure.
Orthodontic appliances – can change the way the jaws grow. These functional appliances use the power of your jaw muscles and can help with certain types of problem.
• Fixed brace – with brackets and bands temporarily stuck to the teeth, when they need to be guided more accurately than they can be using a removable plate. A flexible wire joins all the brackets and allows the teeth to be moved. Fixed braces are not always made of metal. Plastic, ceramic and even invisible can be used, especially for adults.
At our Dental Clinics we will give you a full dental examination, including looking at your teeth, taking x-rays and making plaster models of your teeth. After that we will discuss your treatment options with you.
Occasionally, a tooth’s nerve chamber will become infected, requiring a root canal to save the tooth. This treatment cleans the infected chamber and repairs the damage, saving your natural tooth.
Don't panic. If our doctor says you need a root canal, that's actually a good news. It means they can save your tooth, instead of extracting it. Extracting the tooth would be less healthy and more expensive.
Our Doctors, at our Dental Clinics, utilize a procedure which is not painful, as you may have heard. We numb the tooth so you won't feel any pain, and there is little discomfort afterwards.
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is probably the most maligned of all dental procedures, but the reputation of pain typically associated with 'having a root canal' is really not deserved. For the majority of people who will undergo root canal treatment the process itself will be no more involved than having a filling placed.
Root canal therapy refers to the process by which a dentist treats the inner aspects of a tooth, specifically that area inside a tooth that is occupied by its 'pulp tissue'.
Root canal treatment:
• removes bacteria, toxins, unhealthy nerve tissue, and irritants that are present in a tooth.
• fills in and seals off the nerve space inside a tooth so physically there is no location where bacteria and tissue irritants can exist and be out of effective reach of your body's defense mechanisms.
Here are some of the reasons the root canal may fail:
• The shape of any tooth's root canals can vary greatly. As an example, there can be root canals that have branches or forks in them. This branching can be hard for a dentist to detect and, as a result, one branch may be cleansed and sealed while the other branch is left untreated.
• A tooth may have more root canals than is normally anticipated. In these cases, especially when the unexpected root canals are very tiny, your dentist may not discover them and as a result not clean and seal them.
• There is a crack in the root of the tooth. These cracks can be very small or else in a location in which your dentist cannot detect them.
• The tooth has a defective or inadequate dental restoration and as a result bacteria have been able to seep past this restoration on into the inner aspects of the tooth and recontaminate that area originally cleansed and sealed off by the root canal treatment.
Even though a tooth has been expertly cleaned and sealed, with the passage of time the integrity of this seal can degrade, thus allowing bacteria to recontaminate the interior aspects of the tooth.
Your dentist will have to evaluate your specific situation and advise you as to if they think the retreatment of your tooth is likely to resolve your problems. They may offer to perform this treatment themselves or they may feel that the expertise of an endodontist is warranted for your case. If retreatment is not a possibility then the tooth should be extracted.
Teeth that have had root canal treatment are seldom as structurally strong as they once were. These teeth often require a dental post and crown so to adequately strengthen and protect them.
Teeth that have had root canal treatment are not impervious to tooth decay and gum disease, both of which can lead to the loss of the tooth. You must brush and floss your teeth effectively as to prevent the occurrence of these problems.
TMJ Therapy (Jaw Joint & Headache Pain Treatment)
The letters TMJ are short for of ‘temporo-mandibular joint’, which is the joint connecting your lower jaw and your skull. The movement in this joint lets you open and close your mouth and chew from side to side.
Every time you speak, chew, or even yawn, you use the temporomandibular jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Various factors place undue strain on this area which can lead to discomfort in the jaw and sever headaches.
TMJ treatments:
When diagnosed with TMJ, gentle therapies are first introduced. Our doctor can administer X-rays and prescribe a mouth guard. Such treatment—often home-care—includes moist heat or cold packs on the face, vitamin supplements and exercise.
One new kind of support is called NTI-tss, a splint that fits over a couple of top, front teeth. This design ensures the back teeth remain separated as most clenching occurs at the back teeth. Splints may only work for a short term period and may even change your bite.
If a mouth guard fails to work, our dentist may recommend orthodontics for re-alignment of your teeth.
And if these simple techniques fail, more invasive treatment can be considered. Under local anesthesia, dentists insert two needles in the TMJ to wash it out. A syringe filled with a cleansing mixture connects to one of the needles, while the fluid exits through the other needle. Most patients report relaxation after this medical treatment.
The last option—surgery—involves removing the jaw joints and replacing them with implants.
Our Dental Clinics will develop an individual treatment program based upon your personal circumstances.
Emergency care
We place special priority with all emergency needs. Should a dental emergency arise, call our office and we will make every effort to attend to your need quickly.
What to tell your dentist when you call.
Questions you will be asked when you have a toothache and call your dentist:
How long has it hurt?
What makes it hurt? Does it keep you awake at night?
How much does it hurt?
Have you been taken anything for the pain?
What is the location of tooth or pain?
What symptoms are you having? (swelling, fever, pain)
This is done to determine the type of emergency treatment you require. Make sure to follow up on what the dentist tells you and to attend your return appointment.
